Slonim region is for sure mysterious place. It is strange how on such a small territory in the center of Belarus so many historic and architecture monuments are situated. During this tour we will indtroduse to you the most interesting of them.
First of all we offer you to visit the monastery of Žyrovičy. This is the unique architectural complex that dates back to XV century. In this time the stone icon of God’s Mother appeared in the land of Alexandr Soltan who was a podskarbi of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This icon has remained till nowadays and it is situated in the monastery cloister that was built in XVII century by the Jesuits Basiliac order. The story of the rescue of the icon and other secrets of this ancient monastery you will hear from the students of the seminary that is situated in the monastery.
The next point of our excursion towers in the outskirts of little village far from big cities. It is the church of St. Michael the Archangel. We still don’t know who, when and why built this church with strong defense elements such as towers, loopholes and machicolation. The only thing that we do know is that the mixture of gothic and renaissance styles makes this church the unique monument of architecture not onle of Belarus but of whole Europe.
The center of the Slonym region may also surprise you. There are three ancient churches of XVII – XVIII centuries, the synagogue (one of the oldest in Belarus) and kamenica of XIX in Slonim. All this together is cosy and interesting historic center of the city where many important events took place and where a lot stories to tell to the curious listener is.
In the end of our excursion we will visit the faubourg Albercin. The palace and park of XIX century of the Pyslovskies has remained. They are situated on the shore of beautiful lake and can tell us about life and activity of this old gentry clan.
